Fold an Origami Frog!
Materials: You will need a 3 inch X 5 inch index card (approximately 7 centimeters
X 12 centimeters) or a standard size business card. Note: The stiffer
the paper, the higher and farther the frogs will hop. For visual instruction
on how to fold the origami frog,
Take your card and hold it in front of you vertically. Grab one of the top
corners and fold it to the opposite side, forming a triangle and making
sure the edges are even with each other. Press on the fold, creasing
it sharply. Good job. Now open it up. You should see a creased line.
Now do the same exact step with the other side. This is a symmetrical project.
Take the corner with the creased line and fold it to the opposite side,
forming another triangle and making sure the edges are even. This is
very important for the next step. Open it up. You should see that the
creased lines form an "X".
Now this is the trickiest part of the project. Holding your card up vertically,
you should see three triangles formed. Make a crease down the middle of each of the
side triangles. Push those sides in so that you form a "3-D" triangle. Press down on
the top. It will now look like a house if you hold it in front of you.
Now take one of the bottom corners of the triangle and fold it up so that
the bottom corner meets the top point. Do the same with the other side,
folding the bottom corner up so that it also meets with the top point.
They will form the shape of a diamond. Those will be the frog's front
legs.
Now take one of the side edges and fold it in to meet the middle, folding
into the same side as the diamond. Press on the fold, creasing it. Do the same with
the other side. Remember, this is a symmetrical project. Take the other side and
fold it in so that it too meets the middle. Now if you look at the other side
(the back of the frog), it will look like an arrow pointing up.
We have now arrived at the final steps. Take the bottom edge and fold
it to the top point, folding it in half (the diamond should be on the
inside). What is in your hand now will look like a little square.
What was once the bottom edge is now the top edge. Take that top edge and
fold it down to meet with the new bottom edge, folding it in half. Your frog is
finished! Turn him (or her) over and pull down slightly on the front legs. Give
the back legs a little tug as well.
Now the hopping part. Take you index finger and place it in the bottom
middle of the frog's back, pressing down gently so that his "bottom" touches
his back legs. Now quickly let go and it should hop. It might flip
or do somersaults depending on the weight of your paper, the stiffness,
the sharpness of your creases and how symmetrical your frog is. If
it only hobbles, try adjusting the height of the front legs.

Jenny drew a joyful dragon.
Three fleas flew free.
We read what we write.
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers
Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, how many
pickled peppers did Peter Piper pick?
She slept on a slick sheet.
She tiptoed on tippy toes to tickle Tina's tiny nose.
Hubert heard Henry heartily hee-haw halfway home.
Suzy sneezed and wheezed when she saw fleas.
Three thick tree twigs.
